I needed to supplement my income, yard sales where no good, as my main disabilities are with my lung and heart.

With limitations in mind, I thought of putting my stuff in a consignment store, but when I called them, and was told that they charged 40-50% of the sell price, I thought, why should they get that much? It was my stuff, and all they had to do was keep it in their store.

Then I thought of opening up a store on-line, where I could put my stuff, while in the process of arraigning that, I was made aware that there were a lot of other disabled/able bodied people that would also benefit.

WHAT NOW

This store is as much yours as it is ours. This store is not just mine, but also belongs to my fellow merchants. Each merchant places a picture of their item, along with a description, sets their price, and sits back and waits for it to sell. Once the item sells, the payment will be in Paypal, Paypal takes a approximately 5% transaction fee, and we take 10% selling fee. The remaining 85% is sent via Paypal to the merchant.

Q ..Where is the physical store located?
A .. There is no physical store, just like on Ebay, and Craigslist each merchant maintains their own inventory.

This site isn't just about us, or about making money though, it is also for those of you out there that may want a honest place to buy or sell. Where you can get the same honesty that your Grandparents gave and got, where there is no hidden agenda. Where you don't have to read between the lines.

When we sold on EBay, as THE TURTLE CLAN (we had auctions on EBay since 2002), and we are proud to say that we have a 100 percentile rating. We never expected to get rich (good thing!!!), we just wanted to supplement our disability income. While there were times when we did make a little money, we found that most of the time we didn't. The fees from EBay, Postal service, and PayPal were eating up any money that we made. What we made most months would be less than $30.00. So, we (my Caregiver & I ) decided that we would open up a store, and give ourselves the chance to make a few bucks.

Why the cooking Turtle? We started off as THE TURTLE CLAN, then we decided to write Cookbooks, (which we do) then we started this site. Also, we like what is represents, a slower, more precise era, where workmanship was more important then speed.

A more modern way to look at this site, is it is a wonderful way to recycle! We want to clean up our own mess, and not leave it for our Grandchildren to do.
